Denna Erickson
Denna Erickson was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She studied art at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and also attained a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria, specializing in Art Education. From 1996 – 1997 she lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she painted, taught and had the opportunity to take some courses at the Nova Scotia College of Art.
Her artwork consists of oil painting on wood and plaster, and more recently, oil and encaustic on wood. She also has experience in the techniques of lithography and relief printing. Her paintings consist of personal symbols and shapes combined with layers of glazed colors.
In 1999 four of her pieces were used as inspiration and as the performance backdrop for a Vancouver Island Symphony concert. Canadian composer, Allan Gordon Bell created Chiaroscuro after viewing Denna’s work.
